What do I need to play Freedom Squadron?
Freedom Squadron is a licensed Savage Worlds setting. You will need a copy of the Savage Worlds core rules from Pinnacle Entertainment Group. The Field Manual and Friends/Foes Manual are compatible with the latest edition, Savage Worlds Adventure Edition (AKA “SWADE”).
The Field Manual is the latest edition of the Freedom Squadron setting rules and contains information about character creation, gear, vehicles, and weapons. It also contains an overview of the setting history, allies, and enemies. Most importantly, it contains the Plans & Operations rules, Freedom Squadron’s rules enabling GMs and players to narratively work together to create immersive, multi-faceted “mission montages” that use all of a team’s skills and resources while encouraging maximum narrative creativity for each player. The Freedom Squadron setting rules were previously published in two volumes as the Commando’s Manual and Plans & Operations Manual. Those volumes–and a SWADE conversion guide–are still available on DriveThruRPG but are not recommended. The Field Manual takes into account numerous SWADE changes that slipped past us for the conversion guide and rebuilds almost all of the Vocation Frameworks. For the best Plans & Operations experience, you should also own a set of the Plans & Operations cards. This Kickstarter offers pre-orders for the revised, Field Manual-compatible version of the deck as an Add-On… but it’s easy to convert on teh fly if you have a copy of the old deck.

What are Vocation Frameworks?
Vocation Frameworks, first created by original developer Sean Patrick Fannon for Rifts(R) for Savage Worlds, are a bolt-on to the core Savage Worlds character creation rules. They give heroes additional attribute points, skills, and Edges, making Freedom Squadron heroes far more competent at Novice Rank. Every Freedom Squadron Vocation Framework has been retooled in the Field Manual to take into account Savage Worlds Adventure Edition changes and make them all mathematically equal.

What is the difference between the standard and premium hardcover options?
Per DriveThruRPG:
“The primary difference between Standard Color and Premium Color books is the process with which the ink is printed.
“Standard Color – Printed with an inkjet printer on 70 lb/104 gsm white paper
“Premium Color – Printed with Digital Color Print Engine Technology on 70 lb/104 gsm white paper”
The end result is a crisper image.

How do I get the Friends/Foes Manual and Field Manual?
The best option is to choose one of the combo “Hero” pledge tiers that offers both books. They offer the best pricing.
You can also add copies of the Field Manual in the Add-On section of managing a pledge. (Look for the small green buttons.) This is only recommended if you want to add extra copies.
Both books will eventually be available at DriveThruRPG, but at higher prices.

What about the Advanced Technology Manual and Occult Operations Manual?
The Advanced Technology Manual and Occult Operations Manual did not fund during the original Freedom Squadron Kickstarter Campaign in 2018.
The current development team has been hard at work on both of those books concurrent with the Friends/Foes Manual and Field Manual, but we need your help to make sure the Advanced Technology Manual and Occult Operations Manual are completed. Blowing out the stretch goals on this campaign will help ensure that money is available for the basics we need for the Advanced Technology Manual and Occult Operations Manual.
We have exciting new options in the plans for the Advanced Technology Manual and Occult Operations Manual. The Advanced Technology manual will contain a reworking of Savage Worlds powers to implement vehicle-scale abilities (including orbital death rays!), new Vocation Frameworks like the Advanced Bion and X-Weapons Specialist, and Species Frameworks for heroic Renegade Grifstals and Robo-Trons. The Occult Operations Manual will include new Power Edges, new Frameworks like the Mystic and MOTU-inspired Relic Wielder, the Undead and Werewolf Species Frameworks, and all sorts of new monsters and enemies. There might even be kaiju.
While we’re bound to get there eventually regardless of the outcome of this campaign, making the Friends/Foes Manual campaign as big a success as possible will allow us to plunge back into work on the Advanced Technology Manual and Occult Operations Manual much sooner. In fact, if we hit our final stretch goal, you’ll get a preview of some of the Advanced Technology Manual options in action!

What is BackerKit?

I never received my invitation. How do I complete the survey?
The most common reasons for not receiving a survey email is that you may be checking an email inbox different from the email address you used to sign up with Kickstarter, Indiegogo or Tilt Pro account, or it may be caught in your spam filter.
Confirm that the email address you are searching matches the email address tied to your Kickstarter, Indiegogo, or Tilt Pro account. If that doesn’t work, then try checking your spam, junk or promotions folders. You can also search for "backerkit” in your inbox.
To resend the survey to yourself, visit the project page and input the email address associated with your Kickstarter, Indiegogo or Tilt Pro account.
How do I update my shipping address?
BackerKit allows you to update your shipping address until the shipping addresses are locked by the project creator. To update your address, go back to your BackerKit survey by inputting your email here.
When will my order be shipped, charged or locked?
That is handled directly by the project creator. BackerKit functions independently of the project itself, so we do not have control of their physical shipping timeline. If you want to check on the project’s status, we recommend reading over the project's updates page.
I completed the survey, but haven't received my rewards yet. When will they arrive?
As BackerKit does not actually handle any rewards or shipping, the best way to stay updated on the shipping timeline would be to check out the project's updates page.
